Pang Baolong, a disabled athlete from Lingbao in the city of Sanmenxia, won the gold medal in shot put during the 2018 National Paralympic Athletics Championships.

Pang acclaimed the F42 shot put champion with a score of 13.81 meters and broke a national record, making him Lingbao's best ever disabled athlete.

Pang lost his left leg due to an accident in 2001, but that didn't stop him from training hard and pursuing his dream. With a strong desire to be a successful athlete, he trained hard at a special training center for disabled persons in Henan province. Pang gradually mastered competitive skills and took part in sports events with outstanding results.

"I won't let my parents down, and I will strive for what I have always dreamed of. I hope to win a gold medal in the Paralympic Games for my country, and bring honor to my hometown," said Pang.
