Peking University Eye Center Establishes Henan Branch

The opening ceremony of a branch center of Peking University Eye Center commenced in the Yellow River Sanmenxia Hospital (YRSH) on July 7.

Founded in 2001, with 270,000 outpatient visits and 20,000 surgeries annually, Peking University Eye Center is a nation-level key center integrating clinic, teaching and scientific research. More than 500 people, including government officials, ophthalmologists and journalists from Henan province attended the ceremony.

Addressing the ceremony, Luo Bin, president of the YRSH, said the hospital carries immense weight in ophthalmic medical treatment of Sanmenxia. The founding of the branch center will be a great platform for treating various difficult eye diseases and providing quality care for the patients. It is sure to push forward ophthalmologic development of western Henan and also the surrounding regions.

Wang Wei, director of Peking University Eye Center, said that the two hospitals are bound to share resources, achieve mutual advancement, and offer patients with convenient and efficient treatment.

Following the opening ceremony, an academic conference was held with a series of excellent lectures given by the professors from the Beijing-based eye center.
