Henan Museum Number Reaches 339, Ranking 3rd in China

河南博物馆数量达339家 居全国第三

News from the work conference of Henan Museum on December 22 shows that the number of museums in Henan province reaches 339, ranking 3rd in China. Besides, in Henan, the number of museums and memorial halls above grade three has totaled 53, with 6 grade-one museums, 22 grade-two and 25 grade-three.

全省各类博物馆数量已达339家，数量位居全国第三；全省三级以上博物馆、纪念馆达53家，其中一级博物馆6家、二级博物馆22家、三级博物馆25家，在全国名列前茅。这是12月22日记者在郑州举行的河南省博物馆工作会议上了解到的信息。

In recent years, the overall business and public cultural service of the provincial museums have been significantly improved through the assessment of operation and appraisal of free admission. Only in 2018, more than 1,700 exhibitions and over 7,000 educational activities were carried out by the provincial museums at all levels, attracting nearly 60 million visitors.

近年来，通过博物馆运行评估和免费开放绩效考评，全省博物馆的综合业务能力、公共文化服务水平显著提升。仅2018年，全省各级博物馆就举办各种展览1700多个，参观人次近6000万，实施教育活动7000余次。

Henan is rich in cultural relics, which lays a solid foundation for museum exhibition. China’s first movable cultural relics survey conducted in 2017 showed that the number of cultural relics collected by Henan state-owned units totaled 1,773,620 pieces (sets), or 47,83,457 pieces, ranking top in the nation. The highlight was that the number of Henan non-state museums rapidly increased to 118, accounting for 34.8 percent of the total.

河南省文物家底丰厚，为博物馆陈列展览奠定了坚实的基础。2017年启动的第一次全国可移动文物普查结果显示，河南省国有文物收藏单位藏品共计1773620件（套），4783457件，居全国前列。值得一提的是，河南省非国有博物馆迅速发展，数量达118家，占博物馆总数的34.8%。

“The next step is to publish more support policies at an appropriate time to optimize the distribution of provincial museums, strengthen the construction of smart museums, and improve the level of museum’s exhibition and public service.” Tian Kai, director of Cultural Relics Bureau of Henan Province, also said that the cultural parks and ecological cultural belts such as the Grand Canal, the Silk Road, the Yellow River culture and the Long March should be mapped out, and the museums with various themes should be built to tell the stories behind the cultural relics and present and develop the core socialist values.

“下一步，将适时出台博物馆支持扶持政策，在优化河南省博物馆体系布局、加强智慧博物馆建设工作、提升博物馆陈展水平和公共服务能力等方面下功夫。”河南省文物局局长田凯表示，当前，要围绕大运河、丝绸之路、黄河文化、长征等文化公园和生态文化带建设规划，做好各类主题博物馆建设，讲好文物背后故事，弘扬好社会主义核心价值观。（记者温小娟 编译赵汉青 审校李文竞）
