TCM, a Highlight of Prevention and Control of COVID-19 in Henan

中医药防“疫”成河南省疫情防控亮点

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has become a highlight of prevention and control of COVID-19 in Henan. Henan is one of the largest TCM industry provinces with the largest number of TCM hospitals, beds and doctors in China, said Zhang Zhimin, deputy director of Henan Health Commission, on April 15.

中医药防“疫”成为我省疫情防控工作的一大亮点。4月15日，据河南省卫健委副主任张智民介绍，河南是在全国有重要影响力的中医药大省，拥有的中医医院数、实有床位数、中医类别医师数均居全国首位。

Since the COVID-19 outbreak, Henan has given a full play to its TCM advantages in the integration mechanism of TCM and western medicine against COVID-19, and TCM has been deeply involved in the pandemic prevention and control. By April 14, in treating COVID-19 patients in Henan, the participation rate of TCM has reached 99.14 percent; in cured patients , its participation rate 99.36 percent; and to severe and critically ill patients, its medical consultation rate a hundred percent.

新冠肺炎疫情发生后，河南省充分发挥中医药的独特优势，建立应对新冠肺炎中西医协同机制，中医药全过程深度参与新冠肺炎疫情防控。截至4月14日，在河南省确诊的新冠肺炎患者中，中医药参与治疗率达99.14%；在治愈患者中，中医药参与率达到99.36%，参与重症患者会诊率达到100%。

Recently, the Guideline on Promoting the Inheritance, Innovation and development of Traditional Chinese Medicine (the guideline) drafted by the General Office of Henan Provincial People’s Government has been issued at Henan Health Conference. According to Zhang Zhimin, this guideline has pointed out the future for the inheritance, innovation and development of TCM in Henan, and specified the policies and measures so as to accelerate the construction of Henan as a strong TCM industry province. “TCM will contribute to the development of ‘Healthy Henan’.”

近日，全省卫生健康大会下发了河南省政府办公厅出台的《关于促进中医药传承创新发展的实施意见》。张智民表示，实施意见的出台，为未来一段时期河南省中医药传承创新发展工作指明了发展方向，也为加快建设中医药强省的目标任务，细化了可操作的政策举措。“我们要让中医药继续发挥出重要作用，为健康中原助力添彩。”（记者 王平 翻译 赵汉青 审校 李文竞）
