Henan’s Investment in Newly-Commenced Projects Up 39.7% in First Four Months

In April, as Henan’s pandemic prevention and control situation has seen steady improvement and the resumption of the order of work and life has been accelerating, a positive trend has emerged in economic performance and the growth rate of main economic indicators has recovered obviously, Henan Statistics Bureau said on May 19.

In April, the added value of the industrial enterprises above designated size across the province was up by 6.6 percent year-on-year, 4.1 percentage points higher than that of March.


To be specific, in terms of industries, the added value of mining industry, manufacturing industry, high-tech manufacturing industry and equipment manufacturing industry saw respectively a year-on-year increase of 8.5 percent, 7.3 percent, 12.6 percent and 8.3 percent. And in terms of products, the output of medical masks and fermentation alcohol in industrial enterprises above designated size witnessed a year-on-year growth of 7.9 and 2.7 times.

In the first four months, Henan’s total planned and completed investment in new projects increased by 39.7 and 19.4 percent year-on-year, 24.8 and 16.9 percentage points higher than that of the first quarter, while its fixed-asset investment decreased by 1.1 percent, a rise of 6.4 percentage points over the first three months.

In April, Henan’s consumer price index grew 3.4 percent year-on-year (eased from the 4.8 percent gain in March) with a month-on-month decrease of 1.1 percent.


In terms of its major groups, the cost of food and beverages, education and recreation, medical care, and other goods and services rose respectively by 11.8, 0.8, 3.2 and 0.1 percent year-on-year, while that of apparel, housing, transportation and communication declined respectively by 1.4, 0.3 and 6.0 percent.
