New Water Freight Route Links Zhoukou and Lianyungang for Henan-made Products to Go Global

周口至连云港集装箱水运航线开通 “豫货出海”一站可达

 

By seamlessly connecting with the “Maritime Silk Road”, a new water freight route linking Zhoukou in Central China’s Henan province and Lianyungang in East China’s Jiangsu province was launched on July 22 to further promote Henan-made products to the world. Around 9 o’clock am, two freighters, loaded with containers, left Zhoukou Central Port towards the Yellow Sea.

大河网讯 直接连通“海上丝绸之路”，“豫货出海”再辟新航线。7月22日上午9时许，周口至连云港点对点集装箱水运航线正式开航。在悠长的汽笛声中，两艘满载集装箱的货轮缓缓驶离周口中心港，驶向黄海方向。

The two freighters will travel 772 kilometers in about 9 days to reach the destination -- Lianyungang, the nearest coastal port and the most convenient sea outlet for Henan.

这两艘货轮此次航行的航程为772公里，将用时约9天，目的地连云港港是距离我省最近的沿海港口，也是我省最直接最便捷的出海口。这一航线的开通，将会加强双方在海河联运通道建设上的合作，既有效拓展连云港内河水运业务，又为“豫货出海”和“海货入豫”开辟新通道。

 

Its opening will strengthen the bilateral cooperation in the development of river-sea combined transport for it will not only effectively expand Lianyungang’s inland waterway business, but also open up new channels for Henan to import and export products. This is the third water freight route following Zhoukou-Huaian and Zhoukou-Taicang routes. Compared with Zhoukou-Taicang route opened last year, the newly-opened route has distinct advantages of distance to improve efficiency and lower cost. For example, if the cargo is shipped to Yingkou in Northeast China’s Liaoning province via Lianyungang instead of Taicang, the whole cost can be reduced by 540 yuan per TEU.

这是继周口至淮安、周口至太仓线后，周口中心港开通的第三条集装箱航线。与去年开通的周口至太仓线相比，新航线有天然的距离优势，可提高时效、降低成本。以辽宁营口至周口全程价格为例，经连云港中转与经太仓中转相比，每标箱成本可降低540元。

 

The new route also stands out in terms of transport capacity. It is said that the freighters carrying 54 TEUs can sail on this route.

而在运输能力方面，新航线也相当出众。工作人员介绍，该航线可通行装载54个标箱的货船。

Through this route, Lianyungang Port can make a full use of its geographical advantage of being close to Henan, further extend the port’s reach and build a new inter-provincial water channel to realize a tighter knit between Central Plains Economic Zone and Yellow Sea Economic Zone.

通过这条新航线，连云港港可以发挥距河南较近的地理优势，让海港功能向内陆延伸，构筑起新的省际水上通道，实现中原经济区和黄海经济区更加紧密的连接。

At the same time, Zhoukou Central Port can give a full play to the advantages of Lianyungang Port as a coastal international port and a place where the “Maritime Silk Road” began to strengthen its connectivity with domestic and foreign trade routes. By sharing resources and complementing each other, it is bound to enhance its influence and radiation power to help Henan fully integrate into the “Maritime Silk Road” and open up wider to the outside world.

同时，周口港也能充分利用连云港港作为沿海国际港口和“海上丝绸之路”起点之一的开放优势，加强与内外贸航线互联互通，通过资源共享、优势互补提升自身影响力、辐射力，助力我省全面融入“海上丝绸之路”，打开更加宽阔的开放通道。

 

It is reported that by the route, Lianyungang will send a management team to Zhoukou to assist Zhoukou Central Port in managing logistics and supply chain. In addition, further cooperation will be carried out in the inter-port interaction and investment information sharing.

据悉，随着该条航线的开通，连云港将向周口派出管理团队，协助周口中心港做好全程物流供应链的管理，同时在港际互动和招商引资信息共享等方面展开进一步的合作。（中文来源/河南日报 翻译/赵汉青 审校/李文竞）
