China’s First Archaeological Museum Opens to Public in Luoyang

“东方博物馆之都”洛阳再添新地标 全国首个遗址型考古博物馆开馆

 

On October 10, Luoyang Archaeological Museum was launched to exhibit archaeological findings of Luoyang over the years to the public.

10月10日，洛阳考古博物馆正式开馆，将洛阳历年考古成果展示在人们面前。

Covering an area of about 3,000 square meters, Luoyang Archaeological Museum, the first museum of its kind in China, is located near the west section of the South Wall of Luoyang City Site during the Sui (581-618) and Tang (618-907) dynasties. At present, the 269 exquisite cultural relics being exhibited were all unearthed in Luoyang, dating from prehistoric times to the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, more than half of which were exhibited for the first time.

洛阳考古博物馆是我国首个遗址型考古博物馆，位于隋唐洛阳城遗址南城墙西段，展陈面积约3000平方米。目前馆内展出的269件精品文物皆从洛阳出土，所属年代从史前延续至明清，每个朝代和时期均有涉及，其中一半以上文物是在洛阳首次展出。

 

According to Luoyang Municipal Bureau of Cultural Relics, Luoyang Archaeological Museum is a comprehensive museum to spread Heluo culture and introduce Luoyang’s archaeological achievements over the years, and will exhibit the latest archaeological findings of Luoyang further in future.

记者从洛阳市文物局获悉，洛阳考古博物馆是一座面向社会公众展示河洛文化和洛阳历年考古成果的综合性场馆，将持续展示洛阳最新考古成果。

So far, Luoyang, with an image of “The Capital of Oriental Museums” being taken shape, has launched 85 public museums and formed a system of museum with diversified themes, distinctive characteristics and vigorous vitality. It is expected that, by the end of this year, the number of museum in Luoyang will reach 100, completely including all the 9 counties (county-level cities) in the city.

目前，洛阳已建成开放博物馆85座，形成了主体多元、特色鲜明、富有活力的博物馆体系，“东方博物馆之都”初具规模。今年年底，洛阳市博物馆总量将达到100座，届时将实现9县（市）博物馆全覆盖。（中文来源/河南日报 翻译/赵汉青 审校/焦丹）
