Henan Wheat Sees High-yield Growth and Optimized Planting Structure in 2020

今年河南省小麦产量持续增长 品质结构不断优化

 

News from the press briefing on the quality of wheat production in Henan of 2020 on November 2 -- Generally speaking, Henan’s wheat production is of high quality this year. The proportion of high-quality wheat that meets the standard of high-quality strong gluten or weak gluten wheat continues to increase, 4.3 percentage points higher than that of last year.

11月2日，从2020年河南省收获小麦质量品质信息发布会传来消息，今年我省小麦的整体质量较好，达到优质强筋或者弱筋小麦标准的优质小麦比例持续增加，较去年提高了4.3个百分点。

According to Wang Yutian, head of Industrial Development Division of Henan Provincial Food and Strategic Reserves Administration, judging from the quality of newly-harvested wheat and taking all the indexes of the samples into consideration, the overall quality of wheat across the province is better with higher unit weight and hardness, less unsound kernels.

省粮食和物资储备局产业发展处处长王玉田介绍，从新收获小麦质量情况看，综合全部检验样品各项指标，今年河南小麦的整体质量较好，主要特点是：容重较高、硬度较大，不完善粒普遍较低。

 

In 2020, Henan totally planted 85,144,200 mu (1 mu equals to 0.067 hectares) of summer grains, including 85,105,100 mu of wheat (whose planting area has been stabilized at over 85 million mu for five consecutive years), accounting for nearly a quarter of China’s total wheat planting area. Along with the continuous growth of wheat yield with a total output reaching a record high (75.063 billion jin, 1 jin is equal to 0.5 kg), the quality of its planting structure has also been optimized.

今年河南省夏粮种植面积8514.42万亩，其中小麦面积8510.51万亩，已连续5年稳定在8500万亩以上，占全国小麦种植总面积的近1/4。在小麦产量实现持续增长，总产750.63亿斤，创历史新高的同时，小麦品质结构也不断优化。

 

“According to statistics, Henan has steadily developed high-quality special wheat with 13.5 million mu harvested in the summer, increasing by 7.5 million mu over 2016 (the first year for large-scale planting of high-quality special wheat) and rising from 7 percent to 15.8 percent in planting proportion.” Yang Yajun, deputy director of Food Crops Division of Henan Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, remarked, “With the popularization of suitable area for planting, intensive planting for a certain variety, and standard production, the production of high-quality special wheat is of large amount, good quality and high consistency, and some varieties have realized large-scale production to replace the imports.”

“据统计，我省稳定发展优质专用小麦，夏收优质专用小麦种植面积达到1350万亩，较规模化推广种植的2016年增加750万亩，占比由7%提高到15.8%。”省农业农村厅粮食作物处副处长杨亚军说，“由于推行适区种植、单品种集中连片种植和标准化生产，生产的优质专用小麦总量大、品质好、一致性高，部分品种已实现规模替代进口。”（中文来源/河南日报 翻译/赵汉青 审校/李文竞）
