Sierra Leonean students currently studying Expressway Construction and Operation Management have commended China Railway Seventh Group (CRSG) for giving them the opportunity to be trained in the People’s Republic of China.
The management of West African Operations and Management Company (WAOMC) together with China Railway Seventh Group as part of their corporate social responsibility organized the training program for twenty-eight Sierra Leoneans under the ages of 45 years in Henan University, Zhengzhou City on Expressway construction and operation management for Sierra Leone.
Alhaji Osman Kamara CRSG Toll Gate Agent and Abdul Richard Fofanah, Survey Engineer of CRSG both highly appreciated the training opportunity.
They described China as a country with so many opportunities and is willing to move along with development in African countries. "China is a land with global opportunities where everything is humanly and technologically possible," Kamara said and added that the country has a standard infrastructure with well-managed roads and subways.
Fofana on his part described China as an amazing country with rich culture and has become a top player in the world in terms of road and railway constructions. He said CRSG is capable of transforming Sierra Leone and the African Continent.
CRSG is one of the major Chinese road construction companies not only in Sierra Leone, but globally and has undertaken series of roads constructions project. The company’s move to empower local is viewed as a clear manifestation of its continued commitment in enhancing the capacity of local staff.
China Railway Seventh Group is keen on supporting national development since it started operation in the country and has been embarking on its corporate social responsibilities in a number of communities across the country.
After a colorful opening ceremony in China, the students have undertaken field visit to Henan University of Technology and CRSG Headquarters, Zhengzhou Lianhuo Expressway Toll Station, Zheng-shao expressway and Shaolin Temple. They took general view of China, and attended lectures on China’s reform and opening up, the ‘Belt and Road’ Initiative, highway construction project case, asphalt pavement construction, expressway operation and management etc. amongst several other activities.
After the comprehensive training, the 28 Sierra Leoneans are expected to return to their country to serve in the development process of the West African country.
The Chinese believe that building roads serves as a basis for a country's development.
The Sierra Leonean students described China as a beautiful country that brings good memories in terms of their well-managed culture, friendly people, respectful citizens, and willingness to share ideas and have a philosophy of promoting the world's development.
