US Consular Finds Chinese Friend after 34 Years

Jamie Fouss, a US consular, succeeded finding a Chinese friend, Sun Yuzhen, he met 34 years ago when he was on a tour in China.

Jamie was working for the Peace Corps mission at that time, and he decided to travel around China with his friends after he finished the mission.

They started the 6-week trip in Guangzhou, along the way passing through Wuzhou, Yangshuo, Guilin, Chengdu, Xi'an, Luoyang, and finally ending the trip in Beijing.

He met Sun at Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang, Central China's Henan province, and took a photo of her with her friends with their permission.

Sun told Jamie Fouss that she was working in a carpet factory in Beijing then, so Jamie met her again when he arrived in Beijing.

In 2017, Jamie Fouss was named the US Consulate General in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province. He wanted to know how Sun was doing, so he started to look for her. Fortunately, they managed to meet again after 34 years.
