Nanyang taxi drivers are volunteering to serve students taking part in the college entrance examination.
Thirty taxis in the vicinity of the test sites in urban Nanyang will provide free service for college entrance examination candidates.
Candidates who hold a college entrance examination pass can take a taxi with a "volunteer for examination" sticker free of charge. Candidates can also make an appointment by phone in advance. By appointment, candidates can enjoy the "one-to-one" free pick-up service.
Yang Gao, a taxi driver whose car’s number is Henan RT0485, refused a candidate’s fare after smoothly driving the candidate, who was running late, to the examination hall.
Zhang Jiaqing, a taxi driver whose car’s number is Henan RT0468, said that he felt warm-hearted when he heard about the candidates' gratitude to him after he drove the candidate free of charge. Zhao Changjiang, an experienced taxi driver whose car’s number is Henan RT0477, has participated in the activity for ten consecutive years. Many younger taxi drivers are also joining the volunteer activity.
According to statistics, more than 230 candidates were picked up during the college entrance examination by the fleet of generous drivers.
