Henan: Develop the “Aerial Silk Road” Based on the International Air Routes

河南：依托国际航线 建设“空中丝路”

According to CCTV, central China’s Henan province, as an aviation hub, has opened an international air freight route between Zhengzhou and Luxembourg, which is just like an “Aerial Silk Road” across central Europe. Besides, taking Zhengzhou as the center, Henan has formed an international air freight network connecting Europe, Asia and America, and explored a new road for its opening-up.

Recently, batches of import fresh products are being declared and transshipped around the clock at the Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport. The international air freight terminal is very busy. The young man, named Guo Limin, is the largest agent for  fresh products transportation, never daring to delay a moment during the transshipment since it is getting hotter and hotter now.

这几天，郑州机场的一批批进口生鲜货物正加紧报关、转运，国际货站里十分忙碌。这位名叫郭黎民的小伙子，是代理生鲜货品运输中，规模做得最大的。眼下天气不断升温，在转运环节，小郭一刻都不敢耽搁。

Guo resigned from a state-owned company in 2013 and started a logistics business at the Zhengzhou airport. At that time, Zhengzhou airport had only one international flight every week with little business opportunities. Two years later, he was ready to give up. In fact, Henan’s air freight was just in its infancy. Around the year of 2013, Cargolux, Europe’s largest all-cargo airline, announced a share sale. Informed of this news, Henan Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government immediately sent delegations for negotiation.

小郭2013年从国企辞职，来到郑州航空港做物流生意，当时郑州机场每周只有一班国际航班，可做的生意少得可怜。两年下来，他已经想打退堂鼓了。实际上，当时也正是河南省发展航空货运的起步阶段。2013年左右，欧洲最大的全货运航空公司卢森堡货航宣布向外出售股权。得知这一消息，河南省委、省政府当即派人前去谈判。

In January 2013, Henan Civil Aviation Development and Investment Co., Ltd decided to participate in the global bidding for the acquisition of Cargolux. On January 14, 2014, Henan Civil Aviation Development and Investment Co., Ltd acquired 35% Cargolux’s shares with the lowest bid price of $216.25 million.

2013年1月，河南民航发展投资有限公司决定，参与收购卢森堡货航的全球竞标。2014年1月14日，河南航投以2.1625亿美元的竞标最低价，收购了卢货航35%的股权。

On April 23, 2014, China and Luxembourg signed an agreement to deliver the shares. On June 15, 2014, the international air freight route between Zhengzhou and Luxembourg was opened, building an “Aerial Silk Road” across central Europe.

2014年4月23日，中卢双方签下股权交割协议。2014年6月15日，“郑州—卢森堡”国际货运航线开通，架起了横贯中欧的货运“空中丝绸之路”。

In just five years, with the increase of flights and destinations, the “Aerial Silk Road” has covered more than 100 cities in Europe, Asia and America, and basically formed an international air freight network taking Zhengzhou as the center and connecting Europe, Asia and America. In the past five years, Guo’s business has been booming.

短短五年间，随着航班加密和通航点的增加，这条“空中丝绸之路”覆盖了欧亚美三大洲的100多个城市，基本形成了以郑州为中心、连接欧亚美的国际航空货运网络。这五年中，小郭的生意也越做越红火。

From 2014 to 2018, the cargo volume of the air route between Zhengzhou and Luxembourg grew by 10 times, and 79% of the growth was made by international cargo volume. In 2018, the international cargo throughput of Zhengzhou Airport ranked the fourth place, and its international airmail growth secured the first place in China. In recent six years, the development of air freight has made great contributions to the increase of Henan’s total export-import volume. The year of 2018 witnessed a new high, up to 551.27 billion yuan, leading the central region.

从2014年至2018年，“郑州—卢森堡”航线货运量以10倍速度发展，国际货运量对郑州机场货运增长量的贡献率达79%。2018年，郑州机场完成国际货邮吞吐量居全国第四，国际航空邮件增速位居全国第一。近6年时间，航空货运发展带动河南进出口总额不断攀升。2018年再创新高，实现5512.7亿元，稳居中部地区首位。（来源新闻联播 编译赵汉青）
