A six-day national summer camp on the restoration of cultural relics recently concluded at the Palace Museum in Beijing, China's former imperial palace also known as the Forbidden City.
About 40 elementary school and high school students who have interest in history and traditional culture were selected from all over the country to attend the event.
At the camp, they got a chance interact with top-tier experts in the museum and learned basic techniques in restoration of bronze ware, paintings and other types of cultural relics. Scholars from institutions like Peking University were also invited to give lectures to summer camp attendees.
At the closing ceremony, it was announced that an online quiz competition for children on the Palace Museum collection will launched in September. And the winners of the competition will be invited to attend follow-up events, which are similar to the recent summer camp.
