New Sea-Rail Transportation Route between Xinxiang and Detroit Opens

A China-Europe freight train (Xinxiang) carrying 70 TEUs (20-foot equivalent units) of Henan-made products, such as auto parts and mechanical equipment, departed from the road-rail logistics center at the National Xinxiang Economic and Technological Development Zone towards the global market at 11:28 a.m., May 20.
大河网讯 5月20日上午11时28分,在位于国家新乡经济技术开发区的公铁物流港,满载着70TEU(20英尺长集装箱)汽车配件、机械设备等“河南造”产品的中欧班列(新乡号),再次缓缓开出,加速驶向国际市场。

“These goods will be transported to Huangdao Port in Qingdao via Xinxiang-Shijiusuo (Rizhao) railway line after a day, and then shipped to Detroit by sea.” According to the Party Working Committee of Xinxiang Economic and Technological Development Zone, it was the first freight mission undertaken by China-Europe freight train (Xinxiang) for Henan’s “Maritime Silk Road” with “railway+sea” transport system which has become a new import-export channel in Henan.
“这些货物经国铁新石线,一天后到达青岛黄岛港,海运出口最终到达美国底特律。”新乡经开区党工委负责人告诉记者,这是中欧班列(新乡号)“海上丝路”铁海国际联运首列班列,第一次采用“铁路+海运”混合联动运输方式出口货物,是我省新打通的又一个进出口通道。
Transport by sea only costs 1/3 of that by rail regardless of cost of loading and unloading, so sea-rail intermodal transport will greatly reduce the logistics costs. Besides, the destinations of China-Europe freight train (Xinxiang) will no longer be limited to the five Central Asian countries since then.
据了解,在不考虑装卸费用的情况下,海运成本只有铁路运输的1/3左右,选择铁海联运将大幅降低企业的运输成本;与此同时,铁海联运让中欧班列(新乡号)运输目的地不再局限于中亚五国。
It is worth noting that the sea-rail intermodal transport also realized “one-stop” declaration in Xinxiang with relevant capacity and qualification. Since the freight procedures have been simplified and relevant processes reduced, the shipping time will be further shortened.
值得一提的是,由于具备了出口货物查验场所、能力和资质,本次铁海联运班列的开行,还实现了新乡“一站式”报关,简化了货运流程,减少了运输过程中掏箱、短倒环节,进一步缩短了运输时间。
Since the opening of the first China-Europe freight train (Xinxiang) on March 28, 2018, it has achieved a regular operation (4-6 outbound trips a month) and welcomed its first inbound trip (1 inbound trip a month) on April 3, 2019, beginning a round-trip operation.
据介绍,2018年3月28日,首列中欧班列(新乡号)成功开行,已实现每月4—6列去程出口班列常态化运营,并于去年4月3日迎来了首列返程进口班列(每月1列),开始“重去重回”往返运输。
The opening of China-Europe freight train (Xinxiang) for sea-rail intermodal transport has guaranteed the logistics for enterprises in Xinxiang and even north Henan and effectively enhanced the competitiveness of outbound enterprises, which will attract more sources from the surrounding areas.
