Longtan Grand Valley, Luoyang
(洛阳龙潭大峡谷景区 luò yáng lóng tán dà xiá gǔ jǐng qū)
Longtan Grand Valley Scenic Zone, located in Central China's Henan province, contains complicated and distinctive landforms, which are seldom seen at home and abroad. Of enormous importance for geological study and research, the valley acts as a geological museum for popularization of science, tour and sightseeing.
Stretching a length of 12 kilometers, the valley was formed by the constant flow of water and rain during the earth's crustal movements over the past billions of years. It is known for its marvelous spectacles of hills, waters and plants, including the six wonders and seven great waterfalls. The most curious phenomenon is a 50-meter-long ravine stream that flows upwards.
Dubbed honorary titles since its opening, including "National Geological Park", "Natural Museum of Ancient Oceans", "The No.1 Valley of Narrow Gorges in China", and "Gallery of Mountains and Waterscape along the Yellow River", the zone has a pleasant climate and enjoys abundant rainfall all year round. Featuring canyons, forests and waterscapes within a well-preserved ecological environment, Longtan Grand Valley Scenic Zone offers visitors a rich and diverse slice of nature.
