Sitting at the junction of Xiuwu county in Jiaozuo, Henan, and Lingchuan county in Shanxi province, Yuntai Mountain scenic area covers 280 square kilometers. The Yuntai Sky Fall, with a height of 314 meters, is the biggest waterfallin Asia. When winter arrives, the ice cascade and snow-covered landscape seem to carry people into a world straight out of a fairy tale.
Featuring various shapedgorges and several waterfalls ofdifferent sizes, the mountain boasts eleven scenic spots: Hongshi Gorge, Tanpu Valley, Quanpu Valley, Zhuyu Peak, Diecai Cave, Macaque Valley, Zifang Lake, Wanshan Temple, Baijia Cliff, Qinglong Valley and Fenglin Gorge, all of which are of great scientific and aesthetic value.
Zhuyu Peak, the main peak of the mountain, has an altitude of 1297.6 metersand is considered a holy land for writers and poets, Buddhists and Taoists. Covered with luxuriant vegetation, the peak is home to 1,400 plant species, and its forest coverage rate is up to 93 percent.
An imposing site of Yuntai Mountain is Hongshi Valley (Red Rock Valley), named after the color of the quartz sandstones, which integrates springs, waterfalls, ponds and streams. Itenjoys the reputation as a miniature gorge.
