Zhengzhou Ranked as Second-tier City by GaWC

“国际郑”跻身全球二线城市

Zhengzhou, capital of Central China’s Henan province, is classified as a second-tier city in the 2020 City Classification by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network (GaWC), according to sources on August 24.

8月24日，记者了解到，由全球化与世界城市研究网络（GaWC）编制的全球城市分级排名——《世界城市名册2020》于近日正式出炉，郑州晋升全球二线大城市。

As one of the leading global city rating agencies, GaWC grades cities on four levels, including Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Sufficiency (+/-). The grading is based on the global connectivity of their businesses and professional services including banking, insurance, advertising, law, accounting and management consulting. GDP is not a necessary indicator.

GaWC是全球最著名的城市评级机构之一，通过量化世界城市在金融（银行、保险）、广告、法律、会计、管理咨询五大行业的全球连通性，将城市划分成Alpha、Beta、Gamma、Sufficiency（+/-）四大类，以衡量城市在全球高端生产服务网络中的地位及其融入度，而GDP并不是必要的评价指标。

This year, there are 6 Chinese cities in the Alpha category -- Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing are ranked as Alpha+, while Guangzhou, Taipei and Shenzhen are classified as Alpha-. Besides, there are 13 Chinese cities in the Beta category, including 1 Beta+ (Chengdu), 4 Beta (Tianjin, Nanjing, Hangzhou and Chongqing), and 7 Beta- (Wuhan, Changsha, Xiamen, Zhengzhou, Shenyang, Xi’an, Dalian and Jinan). Among them, Zhengzhou and Xi’an are classified in the Beta- category for the first time.

今年Alpha等级城市中有6座中国城市，其中香港、上海、北京同为Alpha+，广州、台北和深圳入选Alpha-。位于二线Beta等级城市的中国城市有13座，成都位于Beta+（二线B+），天津、南京、杭州、重庆4座城市同处Beta（二线B），武汉、长沙、厦门、郑州、沈阳、西安、大连和济南位列Beta-（二线B-）。这当中，郑州和西安是首次晋升为Beta-城市。

In recent years, Zhengzhou has developed three Silk Roads, namely the Silk Road by Land relying on China Railway Express (Zhengzhou), the Silk Road in the Air supported by air freight services between Zhengzhou and Luxembourg, and the Online Silk Road based on cross-border e-commerce. The world’s “Big Four” accounting firms (EY, PricewaterhouseCoopers, KPMG and Deloitte) also have branches in Zhengzhou. The “ring-shaped” building complex at Zhengdong New District (CBD) is shining with the Longhu Financial Center under construction. Known as “Henan’s Lujiazui”, this area has attracted a variety of financial institutions, including foreign banks, to assist Zhengzhou in speeding up the construction of regional international financial center.

近年来，郑州打造了以中欧班列（郑州）为主要依托的陆上丝绸之路、以郑州—卢森堡航线为主要依托的空中丝绸之路，以及以跨境电商为主要依托的网上丝绸之路。安永、普华永道、毕马威、德勤全球知名四大会计师事务所悉数落子郑州。郑东新区CBD环形建筑群，与加快建设中的北龙湖金融岛遥相呼应。这一片区被称为“河南的陆家嘴”，吸引了包括外资银行在内的各类金融机构聚集，助力郑州加快建设国际化区域金融中心。（中文来源/河南日报 翻译/赵汉青 审校/张玉红）
