Henan Opera Performed at the 2021 CCTV Spring Festival Gala

“河南戏”唱响央视春晚

The 2021 CCTV Spring Festival Gala kicked off in Beijing at 8 p.m. local time on Thursday, Chinese New Year's Eve, with Henan's elements and actors shining on the stage.

Li Shujian and Jin Buhuan, leading performers of Henan Opera, gave a wonderful Chinese opera performance to the audience nationwide with Meng Guanglu, Xu Mengke and other famous Chinese opera artists.

晚会上，著名豫剧表演艺术家李树建、金不换携手孟广禄、徐孟珂等表演艺术家，共同为全国观众献上了精彩的戏曲《盛世百花园》。

"It is a great honor for me to participate in the Spring Festival Gala of the Year of the Ox to do something for the spread, development, inheritance and popularization of Henan opera." According to Li Shujian, there are more than 300 traditional Chinese operas, among which Henan Opera is the leading genre in terms of the number of performers, troupes and audiences. And the fact that Henan opera was chosen to be performed with other 4 local types at the 2021 Spring Festival Gala proves itself as an influential genre.

“很荣幸参加牛年春晚，能够借春晚平台传递豫剧声音，为豫剧发展、传承和普及做点事深感荣幸。”李树建说，全国300多个剧种，豫剧是最大的地方戏剧种。这次上春晚的只有五个剧种，豫剧是其中之一，这说明豫剧影响力深远。

Jin Buhuan is a well-known performer in the "chou" role (male clown, one of the four main roles in Peking Opera). It was his third time to participate in the Spring Festival Gala Evening. Just like Li Shujian, Jin Buhuan also gave up other opportunities, but he felt it was worth it. "Although the performance was short, it still played a significant role in promoting and spreading Henan Opera. With many highlights, the performance had won praises from the audience and thumbs-up from the directors, showing the essence of Henan Opera in terms of vocal singing."
