A Remarkable Spring Festival for Henan Natives

The Spring Festival of 2021 has deeply impressed Henan natives. In the daytime, people enjoy blue sky and white clouds; at night, colorful decorated lanterns hang high.

白天，抬头仰望蓝天白云；夜晚，灯笼高挂流光溢彩。今年春节，特别的年味儿与更多的蓝天让不少河南人印象深刻。

Roaming around Zhengzhou, pedestrian can see exquisite lanterns hung on the roadside trees. At night, lines of colorful decorated lanterns look like the boundless red sea. Together with the red, yellow and purple rattan balls foster a strong festive atmosphere.

在郑州沿街而行，只见不少街道两旁的树木上都悬挂了精致的灯笼，红色的灯笼在夜间望去，仿若一片红色的海洋，成为一道亮丽的风景线。也有悬挂红、黄、紫等多色藤球，流光溢彩，浓浓的年味儿扑面而来。

Amid 2021 Spring Festival and Lantern Festival, 93 roads in Zhengzhou, including the Songshan Road, the Huayuan Road and the Zijingshan Road, as well as 64 business areas and public places, such as the Jianye Triumph Plaza and the Ersha Cultural and Creative Park, are decorated with colorful lights, and a total of 157 roads (sections) in Zhengzhou are illuminated with fairy lights with a total length of about 184 kilometers.

大河网记者了解到，今年春节和元宵节，郑州市对嵩山路、花园路、紫荆山路等93条路段，建业凯旋广场、二砂文化创意园等64个商圈和公共场所开展灯光氛围营造，市区合计亮化157个路段（节点），亮化道路总长度约184公里。

Have you noticed that Henan sees more good air quality days during the Spring Festival than ever?

你有没有发现，今年春节，河南的蓝天变多了？

 

Compared with the same period of 2020 and 2019, Henan's heavily polluted cities in 2021 reduced by 11 and 9, with its peak concentration of PM 2.5 down by 44 percent and 39 percent. Besides, the ambient air quality in Henan was also 1 to 2 grades better than the predicted results. Specifically, the air pollution levels reported by a total of 2,155 monitoring stations across the province, including 100 monitoring stations at the national level, 251 at the provincial level and 1,804 at the township level, did not exceed China's National Ambient Air Quality Standards.

纵向比较来看，与2020年、2019年春节期间相比，全省重度污染分别减少11个和9个城市，峰值PM2.5浓度下降44%和39%，全省环境空气监测质量较预测结果优1至2个级别。全省100个国控点位、251个省控点位及1804个乡镇点位，共计2155个点位空气质量指标无一出现爆表现象。

In a horizontal comparison with the surrounding cities, the pollution level of Henan's prefecture-level cities during the Spring Festival was much lower. From the New Year's Eve to the first morning of the Lunar New Year, affected by fireworks, the ambient air quality in many cities across China deteriorated rapidly, suffering severe to serious air pollution. Some monitoring stations in nearly 20 percent of China's cities saw their instantaneous concentration of PM 2.5 exceeding the Standards. Henan's prefecture-level cities mainly experienced light to moderate pollution, and only a few of which, affected by the transferring and accumulation of pollution, suffered severe pollution.

横向比较来看，与周边城市相比，污染级别低。除夕夜里至初一早上，受烟花爆竹影响，全国多个城市环境空气质量迅速恶化，达到重度至严重污染，全国近20%的城市出现部分站点PM2.5瞬时浓度“爆表”情况。河南省辖市环境空气质量整体以轻-中度污染为主，仅个别城市部分时段受传输和污染累积影响达到重度污染，无严重污染城市，更无“爆表”点位。（中文来源/大河网 翻译/赵汉青 海报/韩雨松 审校/焦丹）
