Good Start to 2021, Zhengzhou Sees GDP Up 18.4% in Q1
一季度GDP增长18.4% 郑州实现首季“开门红”
Zhengzhou's economy got off to a good start in the first quarter of 2021 marking the first year of China's 14th Five-Year Plan. During the January-March period, Zhengzhou's GDP saw a year-on-year increase of 18.4 percent to 296.98 billion yuan, up by 9.3 percent compared with the figure during the same period in 2019, showing a steady recovery and picking up trend.
“十四五”开局之年，郑州经济迎来首季“开门红”。4月23日，郑州市统计局发布数据，一季度，郑州市地区生产总值完成2969.8亿元，同比增长18.4%，比2019年同期增长9.3%，整体经济运行呈现“稳定复苏、不断向好”的态势。
In the first quarter, Zhengzhou's industrial production recovered quickly with an accelerated transformation and upgrading pace. The added value of the industrial enterprises above the designated size increased by 29 percent, up by 15.7 percent compared with the figure during the same period in 2019. Besides, the added value of the six dominant industries, such as electronic information, jumped by 33.3 percent, stimulating the growth of the industrial enterprises above designated size by 26.2 percentage points.
一季度，郑州工业生产快速恢复，转型升级步伐加快。全市规模以上工业增加值增长29%，比2019年同期增长15.7%；电子信息工业等六大主导产业增加值增长33.3%，拉动全市规模以上工业增长26.2个百分点。
From January to March, the fixed-asset investment increased by 11.3 percent, up by 4.7 percent compared with the figure during the same period in 2019. The added value of high-tech and new industries and strategic emerging industries surged by 38.3 percent and 39.4 percent respectively with the shift of growth engines and the improvement of quality and efficiency. The total retail sales of consumer goods soared by 28.9 percent to 134.26 billion yuan with the accelerated upgrading of consumption structure. 39,539 new jobs were created in Zhengzhou's urban areas, completing 32.9 percent of the annual target, with employment effectively guaranteed.
投资拉动强劲，一季度，全市固定资产投资增长11.3%，比2019年同期增长4.7%。产业动能接续转换、质量效益提升，高新技术产业增加值增长38.3%，战略性新兴产业增加值增长39.4%。消费升级持续加快，全市社会消费品零售总额完成1342.6亿元，增长28.9%。居民就业有效保障，全市新增城镇就业39539人，完成全年目标的32.9%。
According to an official source, "Generally, Zhengzhou's economy recovered quickly and got off to a good start. Next, stable growth, strong innovation, major projects, balanced development and overall coordination will be stressed to achieve higher-quality development and continuously enhance the competitiveness, influence and driving force of Zhengzhou as a national central city."
