Archaeological progresses of the ancient Silk Road, institutional history, the origin and evolvement of Chinese civilization, and exchange and comparison of Chinese and Western civilizations are among most popular historical research topics in recent years, according to a report evaluating the Chinese history research frontiers launched on Wednesday.
Report on the Frontiers of Chinese History (2020), conducted by the Chinese Academy of History in Beijing, is part of the academy's achievement released to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.
It consists of six sub reports concerning multi aspects of Chinese history including historical research theories, archaeology, the country's ancient history, modern history, contemporary and the Party history, and also updates in world history research.
Meanwhile it gives a summary of major events and key words in the historical research circle in 2019 and a list of quality monographs and essays published that year.
The release of the report has been delayed for months due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The academy is now compiling the 2021 report and plans to publish it by the end of this year.
