Henan's Inland Waterways to Exceed 2,200 Kilometers within 5 Years

河南内河水运“通江达海”五年内通航2200公里以上

At the opening ceremony of the Transportation Science and Technology Innovation Week of Henan Province on June 1, the issue of inland waterway was highlighted again.

According to Li Weidong, secretary of the Party Leadership Group of the Department of Transport of Henan Province and the Department's director-general, centering on major national strategies such as the Rise of Central China and the Ecological Protection and High-quality Development of the Yellow River Basin, Henan will spare no efforts to implement a series of key projects, such as expanding high-speed railway network, strengthening civil aviation hubs with more routes, commencing "13445 Project" for expressways, making arterial roads more smooth and  interconnected, linking inland waterways with major rivers and seas, etc. Besides, the province will also strive to build a multi-level integrated transportation hub system supported by the international comprehensive transportation hub of Zhengzhou, supplemented by the national comprehensive transportation hubs of Luoyang, Shangqiu and Nanyang, and coordinated by other regional comprehensive transportation hubs.

河南省交通运输厅党组书记、厅长李卫东提到，“十四五”时期，河南省将围绕中部地区崛起、黄河流域生态保护和高质量发展等国家重大战略要求，着力实施高速铁路“拓展成网”、民航机场“强枢增支”、高速公路“13445工程”、普通干线公路“畅通畅连”、内河水运“通江达海”等一批重大工程，着力打造“以郑州国际性综合交通枢纽为主，洛阳、商丘、南阳全国性综合交通枢纽为辅，其他区域性综合交通枢纽联动发展”的多层级综合交通枢纽体系。

By 2025, in addition to forming a system featuring "one hub with five spokes" for civil aviation industry, the completed investment in transportation infrastructure in Henan will reach more than 900 billion yuan, with the mileage of high-speed trains, expressways and inland waterways exceeding 3 thousand kilometers, 10 thousand kilometers and 2,200 kilometers respectively. Besides, three traffic circles will also be formed, including two one-hour traffic circles in Zhengzhou and Luoyang and a two-hour traffic circle in Central China’s city clusters, to promote high-quality economic and social development.

到2025年，全省交通基础设施计划完成投资9000亿元以上，高速铁路营运里程突破3000公里，民航机场形成“一枢五支”，高速公路通车里程达10000公里以上，内河水运通航里程达2200公里以上，形成郑州（都市圈）1小时、洛阳（都市圈）1小时、中原城市群2小时共三个交通圈，有力支撑河南经济社会高质量发展。

It is learned that by the end of 2020, the mileage of inland waterways in Henan has reached 1,725 kilometers with such projects as the Shaying River, the Huaihe River (Huaibin section) and the Tanghe River under construction.
