Henan Students Sit China's College Entrance Exam on June 7

At 9 am on June 7, China's annual college entrance exam, better known as the Gaokao exam, kicked off.

A total of 1.25 million students in Henan have signed up for Gaokao. Except the students enrolled in vocational schools through exclusive entrance exam, 790.7 thousand students in Henan sit the unified state exam this year, 69.8 thousand attend the unified province exam for students from secondary vocational schools, while 187.4 thousand of junior colleges take the unified province exam for upgrading to bachelor programs. Besides, a total of 850 exam sites with 31,146 test rooms have been set up across the province.

今年全省高考报名总人数为125万人，除去参加高职单招已录取的考生，参加普通高考全国统考的考生为79.07万人，对口招生省统考6.98万人，专升本省统考18.74万人。全省共设标准化考点850个，考场31146个。

 

To make the entrance exam safe, fair, heart-warming, relevant departments in Henan, according to their responsibilities, have actively done their best in pandemic prevention and control, crackdown on exam-related crimes, etc. Specifically, the departments of education and admission are responsible for pandemic prevention and control, organization and management, exam discipline, supervision and inspection, the department of public security is for crackdown on exam-related crimes, the department of industry and information technology for locating and cutting off cheating signals, the department of health and social care for making guidance on pandemic prevention and control at exam sites, and the departments of finance, transportation, electricity, communication, etc., are responsible for providing necessary services. During the exam, all the relevant departments across the province are bound to work together to deal with emergencies efficiently.

为了给考生营造平安健康、公平公正、温馨和谐的考试环境，我省各有关部门按照职责分工，协调联动，积极做好疫情防控、打击涉考犯罪、净化考试环境、高考安全保卫等工作。教育招生部门统筹抓好考试防疫、组织管理、考风考纪和督导巡视；公安部门开展高考安保专项行动，为高考保驾护航；工信部门开展拉网式电磁环境监测，全面阻断考试作弊信号；卫生健康部门派驻专人指导考点防疫；财政、交通运输、电力、通信等部门密切配合，全力做好高考各项服务保障。各地各有关部门考试期间联合办公，快速妥善处置突发事件。

 

Apart from providing standard stationery, Henan still takes such measures as "metal detector check" and "three verifications" this year, which means that exam takers are not allowed to step into test rooms unless the metal detector doesn't sound the alarm and their fingerprints, photos and certificates should be verified with facial recognition technology. Moreover, exam takers must not bring their own stationery into test  rooms, nor are they allowed to take the standard stationery provided away.

今年我省继续实行“无声入场”、“三对照”、统一配备文具等入场管理措施。“无声入场”，即考生入场检查时，金属探测器没有发出报警声响方能通过；“三对照”，即考生入场严格实行指纹、照片、证件逐一对照，继续采用人脸识别技术，对考生入场照片与报名照片进行逐一比对；按照规定，考生不得携带文具入场，也不得把统一配备的文具带出考场。（中文来源/河南日报 翻译/赵汉青 审校/丁岚）
