LOS ANGELES, June 24 (Xinhua) -- Chinese action crime film "Raging Fire" will hit the big screen in limited theatrical release in the United States and Canada later this year, its distributor said on Thursday.
"Well Go USA Entertainment has acquired the North American rights to 'Raging Fire,' the latest action thriller featuring martial arts superstar Donnie Yen," tweeted the company.
Helmed by late Hong Kong action film director Benny Chan who died of illness last August, the film stars Yen as a highly respected hardline cop with a long history of success on dangerous cases. However, his past unexpectedly comes back to haunt him when a sting operation is attacked by a mysterious group of criminals led by his former mentor, played by Nicholas Tse.
Yen, one of Hong Kong's top action stars, is renowned for his roles in such hit martial arts films as the "Ip Man" franchise.
"It's always a pleasure to collaborate with Donnie Yen, and we are especially honored to help bring the final project of the renowned Benny Chan to fans across North America," Doris Pfardrescher, Well Go USA president and chief executive, told Xinhua.
Well Go USA Entertainment is a theatrical and home entertainment distribution label specialized in bringing top Asian films to North American markets.
"Raging Fire" is reportedly set to be released in Chinese mainland this summer.
