The Chinese people have done very well under the Communist Party of China, one of the few political parties in the world that has stood the test of time, a professor wrote in the South China Morning Post.

Has the CPC delivered what the Chinese people want, asked Lawrence J. Lau, the Ralph and Claire Landau Professor of Economics at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and the Kwoh-Ting Li Professor in Economic Development, emeritus, at Stanford University.

Lau then listed China's success. China has been most successful in the eradication of absolute poverty. It has achieved for China axiaokang, or moderately well-off society. It has excelled in the provision of public goods and made great strides in public health.

Lau also pointed out that income distribution has become unequal on the mainland and suggested the Party should make those who have not yet become rich, rich too.
