A New Break! Henan Records Over 10,000 Centenarians

河南百岁“寿星”首次破万

The number of centenarians in Central China's Henan province exceeded 10,000 to 10,673 during the 7th National Population Census of Henan Province (by 0:00 on November 1, 2020), showed the data released by Henan Statistics Bureau recently. In terms of gender, the number of females was higher than that of males, while of regional distribution, Zhoukou, Shangqiu and Zhumadian topped other prefecture-level cities across the province.

近日，河南省统计局发布数据显示，河南省第七次全国人口普查（以下简称七人普）河南百岁以上老人人数达到10673人，2020年百岁老人数量首次突破10000人。从性别来看，女多男少，从地区分布来看，周口、商丘、驻马店数量排前三。

The number of centenarians in Henan totaled 10,673 in 2020, an increase of 7,732 from 2,941 during the 6th National Population Census in 2010 and 10,421 from 252 during the 1st National Population Census in 1953, with each increasing by 3.63 times and 42.36 times.

七人普结果显示，河南百岁以上老寿星人数达到10673人，与2010年第六次全国人口普查的2941人相比，增加7732人，是十年前的3.63倍，是1953年第一次全国人口普查的252人的42.36倍。

Only 252 centenarians were reported in Henan in 1953, with such a figure exceeding 1,000 in 2000, 2,000 in 2010 and 10,000 in 2020, according to the previous census data.

从河南历次人口普查数据来看，1953年，河南仅有252位百岁老人；2000年，百岁老人数量首次突破1000人；2010年百岁老人数量首次突破2000人；2020年百岁老人数量首次突破10000人。

Henan registered a population (permanent resident population) of 99.366 million, according to the 7th National Population Census of Henan Province, showing that 10.7 centenarians of every 100 thousand people across the province has exceeded the UN's standard for a "longevity area" -- 7.5 or more centenarians per 100 thousand people.
