Henan's China-Europe Freight Trains Drive Belt and Road Cooperation

"'Hard connectivity' in infrastructure, 'soft connectivity' in trade and 'people-to-people connectivity' among different countries along the route have been promoted. The China's proposed Belt and Road Initiative has been widely echoed and accepted by the international community because it delivers benefits to people's livelihood and the world." The Third Symposium on the Development of the Belt and Road Initiative which was held on November 19 in Beijing not only set out a new vision for the Belt and Road Initiative, but also pointed out the direction for Henan province to expand opening-up and actively participate in the Belt and Road Initiative.

“‘硬联通’‘软联通’‘心联通’，‘一带一路’倡议应潮流、得民心、惠民生、利天下。”11月20日，河南省发展改革委相关负责人表示，第三次“一带一路”建设座谈会的召开，为推动共建“一带一路”擘画蓝图，更为河南扩大对外开放、积极参与“一带一路”建设指明了方向。

In recent years, Henan has been active in promoting the Belt and Road Initiative and thus achieved some progress. Based on China-Europe freight train (Zhengzhou), Henan has promoted "hard connectivity" in infrastructure, "soft connectivity" in trade and "people-to-people connectivity" among different countries along the route.

近年来，推动共建“一带一路”走深走实，河南省一直积极有为。以中欧班列（郑州）为重要载体和重点项目，河南省推动了基础设施的“硬联通”、贸易往来的“软联通”，更加强了与沿线国家民众的“心联通”。

With more than 8 years of efforts, China-Europe freight train (Zhengzhou) has formed a logistics network with 10 direct destinations covering more than 130 cities of over 30 countries in Europe, Central Asia, ASEAN and Asian-Pacific region, which has provided transportation support to keep the global industrial and supply chains stable. Besides, changes have taken place quietly in people's life in Henan. Nowadays, people can directly shop for a variety of off-price products from around the world without the need of traveling abroad, such as Russian milk, French wine, Belgian chocolate and German beer. At the same time, supported by China-Europe freight train (Zhengzhou), Henan's special products like Luoyang's YTO tractors, Xinyang's Maojian tea, Nanyang's shiitake mushroom and Shangqiu's cotton are also widely accepted in the Belt and Road countries. During the COVID-19 pandemic, China-Europe freight train (Zhengzhou) set up a green channel for medical device firms in Changyuan (a county-level city of Xinxiang) for the transportation of their medical supplies, which contributed Henan's efforts to the building of the Health Silk Road for global pandemic prevention and control and medical assistance.

据了解，中欧班列（郑州）自开行以来，通道网络逐步完善，已形成直达10个目的站点，辐射欧洲、中亚、东盟和亚太30多个国家130余个城市的国际物流通道网络，为畅通贸易提供了强有力的“硬联通”，同时，也给省内群众生活带来了悄然变化，民众足不出户就能买到物美价廉的俄罗斯牛奶、法国红酒、比利时巧克力、德国啤酒。东方红拖拉机、信阳毛尖、南阳香菇、商丘棉花等我省特色产品搭乘中欧班列（郑州）畅销“一带一路”沿线国家。疫情期间，中欧班列（郑州）积极为新乡长垣等地的医疗设备企业搭建“绿色通道”，运输防疫物资，为疫情防控、医疗救援打造“健康丝绸之路”贡献河南力量。

 

So far, more than 100 shops selling over 630 varieties of products brought by China-Europe freight train (Zhengzhou) have been set up across China with annual sales of more than 1 billion yuan, thus forming a virtuous cycle of freight driving trade while trade boosting freight.
