Graphics: Global Perception on China's Democracy

The Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies, a think tank, published a report titled Global survey: Democratic Practices and Governance Effectiveness in China on Tuesday after interviewing around 10,000 people in 23 countries including China and US.

Here are some highlights from the report:

1. Common values of humanity are widely accepted

Respondents expressed a high degree of recognition of the common values of "peace, development, fairness, justice, democracy and freedom" that China advocates, with an average rating of 96.7%.

2. The CPC plays a key role in the governance of the country

Respondents highly agree that China's ruling party plays an important role in national governance, believing that the CPC has played a key role in promoting economic development (90.8%).

3. China's economy maintains long-term stable and healthy growth

Respondents are positive about the long-term development of the Chinese economy, as all of them voted "agree" or "highly agree".

4. China leads the world in manufacturing and technology industries

Respondents widely recognize China's manufacturing and technological innovation capabilities. They believe that "Made in China" and "Created in China" products are renowned worldwide.

5. China takes firm actions in energy conservation and pollution control

Respondents believe that China has taken effective measures in energy conservation and emission reductions (44.1%), air pollution treatment (36.4%), water pollution treatment and protection of water sources (35.5%).

6. China has significant influence in global affairs such as technological innovation, economic recovery and climate change

Respondents believe that China has played an important role in global governance areas.

7. China strongly promotes social fairness in employment, healthcare and education

Respondents believe that China has effectively promoted social fairness in areas such as creating jobs, strengthening medical services and education.

8. China's epidemic prevention and control is effective

In terms of epidemic prevention and control, respondents said they "fairly agree", "agree" or "highly agree" with the effectiveness of China's measures.

9. China has rich traditional principles of governance

Respondents highly agree with China's preservation of and drawing on its traditional ideas of governance.

10. The Chinese people highly trust and identify with their own government

In terms of trust in their own government, the Chinese people's survey figures are as high as 99.8%, with 63.7% "highly agree".
