Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, has called for consolidating and expanding the achievements made in the yearlong campaign of Party history learning and education in order to firm up confidence in pursuing the development path with Chinese characteristics.
Xi, who is also China's president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remark in a recent instruction which was released on Friday at a meeting in Beijing to review the campaign of Party history learning and education.
Xi stressed that the launching of the Party-wide education campaign was a major strategic decision by the CPC Central Committee to open up new prospects for the cause of the Party and the State from the new starting point of the centenary of the founding of the CPC.
He recognized the marked effects and major achievements that the campaign has had, saying that all Party members and officials had received profound political, ideological and intellectual education, and that the Party's creativity, unity and ability to struggle have been greatly improved.
Xi called for reflecting on the successful experience of the education campaign, and setting up regular mechanisms for Party history learning and education to continuously build on the long-term effects of the campaign.
He underlined the need to implement the decisions of the sixth plenary session of the 19th Central Committee of the CPC to enable all Party members and officials to fully understand the Party's innovative theories and strengthen their confidence and determination to pursue the development path with Chinese characteristics and realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
Speaking at the meeting, Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, stressed the importance of consolidating the achievements of the Party history learning and education campaign.
Efforts should be made to guide all CPC members and officials to understand why the Party, Marxism and socialism with Chinese characteristics work effectively in China, and make them faithfully implement the policies and decisions of the CPC Central Committee with a united will and action, in order to make new achievements in the new era, Wang said.
The CPC Central Committee launched the campaign of Party history learning and education early this year to ensure that all CPC members remain true to the Party's founding mission so that they will unswervingly work to seek happiness for the people and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation with even firmer ideals and beliefs.
The education campaign was viewed as a timely and necessary move for the Party to draw strength from its glorious past to advance the country's modernization drive despite the increasing challenges ahead.
