Located in mid-southern Henan, Luohe covers an area of 2,617 square kilometers, and governs 2 counties and 3 districts with a permanent resident population of 2,367,490 (the 7th national census).

Luohe enjoys favorable natural conditions with mild climate and four seasons are very obvious there. Shahe River and Lihe River traverse and converge in the downtown area. Luohe has successively got the titles of National Garden City, National Greening Model City, National Forest City, Charming Cities with Chinese Characteristics and China's Model of Living Environment.

Food processing industry takes the lead and prospers in Luohe, with Shuanghui Group, the largest meat processing enterprise in Asia, Nanjiecun Group, one of the most famous producers of instant noodles in China and Lotte Aodeli Group, the first producer of glucosamine drink in China and other well-known food enterprises seated. The splendid development and achievements of food industry make Luohe accredited as the first Famous Food City in China, National Pilot City of Food Security Credit and Assurance System and the first Comprehensive Demonstration City of Agricultural Standardization.

Enjoying superior geographical location and developed transportation network, Luohe has become a hub where Beijing-Guangzhou Railway and Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao expressway and National Highway 107 traverse and Luohe Railway Station is in operation as a Level-A marshaling yard.

Luohe has established the sister city relationship with Ipswich of the UK.
