Located in the northern Henan, Hebi covers an area of 2,182 square kilometers with a pernanent resident population of 1,565,973 (the 7th national census) and administers 2 counties and 3 districts.
Hebi has rich cultural deposits and many historic sites can be found in the place. For instance, the Qihe River, the only river that remains uncontaminated in Northern China and Dapi Mountain and Yunmeng Mountain where ancient reclusive philosopher Guiguzi spread his thinking and wrote masterpieces.
Hebi has enormous mineral resources including coal, cement rock and dolomite, all of which are well worth mining. With solid industrial foundation, the city has set up an industrial system with energy, metallurgy, machinery, electronics, building materials, chemical and textile industry as its mainstay. Its key agricultural products are wheat, corn and peanuts, etc. Hebi is one of the national production bases for high-quality wheat and commodity grain. Specialties such as the "Qihe River's Three Treasures", namely crucian carp, duck eggs and Herba Rabdosiae, have gained a high reputation both at home and abroad. In addition, Hebi is a base for the production, processing and export of animal husbandry and livestock for export exchange.
The city enjoys convenient transportation network. Situated at the forefront of Central China Economic Region that connects Bohai Economic Rim, Hebi is about 130 kilometers north to Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport and 500 kilometers west to Port of Tianjin, Qingdao Port, Port of Lianyungang and other ports. Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, Beijing-Hong Kong-Macau Expressway and National Highway 107 run north and south Hebi. If you travel on Beijing-Guangzhou High-Speed Railway, you can reach Zhengzhou within half an hour and Beijing within two and a half hours.
