Zhengzhou is a national central city, the core city of Central China City Cluster, the provincial capital as well as the political, economic, and cultural center. It covers an area of 7446 square kilometers with a permanent resident population of 12,600,574 (the 7th national census) and administers 5 cities, 1 county and 6 districts. Linking the East and the West and connecting the North and the South, Zhengzhou, an important transport hub, plays an important role in China's development. Moreover, it is also an appealing tourism city with a long history and a splendid culture.

Zhengzhou is located in the central part of China and has served as a capital for five times. As one of the Eight Great Ancient Capitals in China, the city has more than 10,000 historical relics. It enjoys charming natural scenery and has plentiful scenic spots and historic sites. Its famous tourist attractions include the Native Place of the Yellow Emperor, the Ruins of the Shang Dynasty, the Ruins of the Dahecun Culture, Shaolin Temple, Songyang Academy of the Song Dynasty, Zhongyue Temple, Henan Museum and the Yellow River Scenic Spots.

Serving as the biggest distribution center in central China, Zhengzhou is a national center for commerce and trade. Each year, over 100 national and regional trade activities are held in Zhengzhou. China Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange is the first futures market designated by the State Council and the ”Zhengzhou Price” has always been the guiding price for world food production and the flow of food. Zhengzhou's key industries include textile, machinery, building material, refractory material, automobile and foodstuff. Its specialties like Xinzheng Chinese dates, Zhongmu garlic and Yellow River Carps are well-known throughout China.

In recent years, as the Belt and Road Initiative is pushed ahead, Zhengzhou has seen a big rise in both its positions and influence in China's overall development. The city is entrusted with an array of national strategies, including Zhengzhou Airport Economic Zone, Zhengzhou-Luoyang-Xinxiang National Innovation Demonstration Zone, China (Henan) Pilot Free Trade Zone and National Big Data Pilot Zone.

Zhengzhou is China's main hub for rail, air, high-speed rail, electric power, mail and telecommunications. It's the only "double cross” center in China's railway and high-speed railway network. You can reach 2/3 cities in China within one and a half hours by taking a plane at Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport. China Railway Express (Zhengzhou-Europe) is among the best among its counterparts in terms of distribution range, cargo volume and freight load factor. It's estimated that, by 2025, the building of "Zhengzhou-Luxembourg Silk Road in the air” will be completed in step with Zhengzhou Airport Economic Zone. The ”Silk Road in the air" will become an air economic corridor that leads the central China, serves the whole country, connects Europe and Asia, and reaches out to the world.

Zhengzhou has set up sister city relationship with twelve cities, including Saitama of Japan, Richmond of America, Jinju of South Korea, and Samara of Russia.
