Central China's Henan province is always busy with summer harvesting and sowing in June. With the joy of harvest, the Jinan-Zhengzhou high-speed rail commenced service on June 20. To build Henan into a logistics hub linking domestic and overseas markets, Henan's railway departments have been continuously expanding its rail network for the province's high-quality economic and social development.

With the implementation of China's Medium and Long-term Railway Network Plan,an eight vertical and eight horizontal HSR network has been gradually rolled out. Zhengzhou has become a hub not only for regular passenger trains, but also for high-speed ones. Based on its location advantages in location connecting east and west as well as north and south, Henan proposed the plan of building a star-shaped high-speed rail network.

随着国家《中长期铁路网规划》实施，以“八纵八横”高铁网为主骨架的高速铁路网迅速在神州大地铺开。郑州成为普铁、高铁“双十字”枢纽。河南立足自身承东启西、连南贯北的交通区位优势，提出了建设“米”字形高铁网的思路。

To boost its construction, China State Railway Group Co Ltd released a series of preferential policies. China Railway Zhengzhou Group Co Ltd set up a coordinating group with relevant agencies and departments to deal with issues related to land use, environment improvement, fire-protection acceptance, etc. All parties involved have spared no efforts to ensure the opening of the new high-speed railway lines as scheduled.

中国国家铁路集团有限公司高度关注河南高铁网建设，在政策上给予倾斜支持。中国铁路郑州局集团有限公司配合河南省相关部门成立铁路建设项目协调小组，协调解决建设用地、外部环境整治、消防验收、环水保验收等问题。设计、施工、监理等参建单位跑步进场，确保高铁新线路如期通车。

A star-shaped high-speed rail network carries the expectations of people in the Central Plains for a better life. Today, a high-speed railway network covering a mileage of more than 2,000 kilometers has become a symbol of Henan for its safe, efficient, convenient and green management.

High-speed trains have added "wings" to rural vitalization. Included into China's high-speed rail network, Lankao has experienced a rapid development with various industrial agglomeration areas and featured industrial parks built and many famous enterprises settled in. In 2021, Lankao's GDP exceeded 40 billion yuan,making it a core component of the integrated development of Zhengzhou and Kaifeng.

高铁为乡村振兴插上翅膀。兰考通了高铁后驶入发展快车道，一个个产业集聚区、特色产业园拔地而起，富士康、杭萧钢构、格林美等一批知名企业落户兰考。2021年，兰考地区生产总值突破400亿元，跻身郑开同城化发展“朋友圈”。

High-speed rail also promoted the integrated development of cultural and tourism industries by linking the national famous historical and cultural cities across Henan. With joint efforts, Henan railway and the cultural and tourism sector have deepened their cooperation by promoting the integrated development of tourism and high-speed railways. Initiated by China Railway Zhengzhou Group, the railway tourism products provided by various travel agencies have been widely accepted.

Henan is directly linked with Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Metropolitan Area, Yangtze River Delta, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle by high-speed trains. As a strategic hub and channel for industrial transfer in East China, resource export in West China, and economic and trade exchanges and cooperation between North China and South China, Henan is bound to boost the coordinated development of Beijing,Tianjin and Hebei, the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta, the ecological conservation and high-quality development of the Yellow River basin,etc.

高铁成网，使河南与京津冀、长三角、粤港澳大湾区、成渝地区双城经济圈实现高铁直连，为东部地区产业转移、西部地区资源输出、南北经贸交流合作提供了战略枢纽和战略通道，有力助推京津冀协同发展、粤港澳大湾区建设、长三角一体化发展、黄河流域生态保护和高质量发展等重大战略实施和经济社会发展。

The average number of daily passengers at Zhengzhou East Railway Station has jumped from 4,883 in 2012 to 108 thousand in 2019. The group of comprehensive transportation hubs with high-speed railway stations as the core has brought the economic factors together, thus forming a high-speed railway economic circle that is mature, active and powerful.

郑州东站日均旅客发送量从2012年的4883人次增加至2019年的10.8万人次，以高铁站为核心的综合交通枢纽组团迅速聚合了经济要素，构成了成熟、活跃、动力强劲的高铁商圈。

Currently, apart from Zhengzhou South Railway Station, the Pingdingshan-Luohe-Zhoukou high-speed railway and the extension line of Zhengzhou-Kaifeng intercity railway have commenced construction. The terminal building of Zhengzhou Hangkonggang Railway Station with the elements of Lotus-Crane Square Pot, a treasure of Henan Museum, symbolizes the economic and social development of the Central Plains which will fly higher and farther like a crane.
