'Gold Mask' Discovered at Shang Dynasty Site in Zhengzhou

Chinese archaeologists announced today (Sept. 16) that some new major discoveries have been made at the capital city site of the Shang Dynasty (1600-1046 BC) in Zhengzhou city of Henan province.

入选“全国百年百大考古发现”的郑州商城遗址，又一次迎来重大考古发现。

A large cemetery for nobles of the Shang Dynasty was discovered in Zhengzhou last year, becoming the one with the largest number, the most complete varieties and the highest level of burial objects ever discovered at the capital city site of the Shang Dynasty in Zhengzhou.

2021年，郑州市文物考古研究院在郑州发现一处商代贵族墓地，这是郑州商城目前发现的陪葬品数量最多、种类最丰富、等级最高的贵族墓葬。

Apart from a large number of bronze wares, jade yue (a battle-axe used in ancient China), jade ge (dagger-axes), money cowries, etc., a gold mask of the mid Shang Dynasty was also discovered for the first time.

不仅出土了数量众多的青铜器，玉钺、玉戈以及贝币等重要遗物，而且首次发现了商代中期的金覆面。
