Farmers are busy harvesting wild rice stems (Chinese: 茭白) in Shangcheng county of Xinyang city, Henan province. Wild rice stem, also known as water bamboo, is commonly grown in South China and other Asian countries and can reach 1.2 to 2.4 meters in height.
