Henan's Wheat Sowing Basically Completed

河南省麦播基本结束

Wheat sowing has almost come to an end across Central China's Henan province by October 31 except for some areas in Xinyang city, with a sowing area expected to stabilize at more than 85 million mu (1 mu equals about 666 square meters), said a source from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Henan Province.

据河南省农业农村厅统计，截至10月31日，除信阳市部分地区外，全省麦播基本结束，预计全省麦播面积继续稳定在8500万亩以上。

The report delivered to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China noted that China must reinforce the foundations for food security on all fronts and guarantee that both Party committees and governments assume responsibility for food security, thus ensuring China's food supply remains firmly in its own hands.

党的二十大报告指出，全方位夯实粮食安全根基，全面落实粮食安全党政同责，确保中国人的饭碗牢牢端在自己手中。

Food security is not only among China's most fundamental interests, but also among Henan's most important responsibilities. Henan is the largest wheat producer in China, producing 1/4 of the country's wheat every year. Besides, Henan's total grain output has exceeded 130 billion jin (1 jin equals 0.5 kg) for 5 consecutive years, including over 70 billion jin of wheat. That is to say, Henan plays an indispensable role in ensuring China's food security.
