Editor's note: The latest archaeological discoveries and findings of the Neolithic sites of Yangshao, Beiyangping, Huangshan and Suyang have been released at the 1st Yangshao Forum held in Sanmenxia city of Henan province on November 27, providing solid evidence for tracing the origins of Chinese civilization. The fourth archaeological excavation of the Yangshao site commenced on August 22, 2020, and is still in progress. So far, rich cultural remains have been unearthed, including housing, ring trenches, cellars, tombs, etc. It is worth noting that a large housing foundation of the Yangshao Culture (7000-5000 BC) was discovered at the southern part of the site, which is square or rectangular in shape, covers an area of about 130 square meters and is believed to be of the late Yangshao Culture. In the middle of the site are found 4 large manmade ring trenches. The discovery of this high-grade housing foundation provides new evidence for studying not only the site itself, but also the housing structures and building techniques of Yangshao Culture in West Henan.
仰韶村遗址第四次考古发掘从2020年8月启动一直持续至今，发现遗迹丰富，有房址、壕沟、窖穴、墓葬等，出土一大批文化遗物。在遗址南部发现一座仰韶文化大型房屋建筑基址，平面呈方形或长方形，推测面积在130平方米以上，从层位关系和出土遗物初步判断为仰韶文化晚期。在中部发现4条大型人工壕沟。仰韶村遗址首次发现高等级房屋建筑遗存，为研究仰韶遗址及豫西地区仰韶文化时期房屋建筑的类别、形制、技术等提供了新材料。

The archaeological excavation deepened the understanding of the cultural connotation of the Yangshao site, unveiling that the site was a large central settlement with rich cultural remains and high academic value in Mianchi basin, said Li Shiwei from the Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology of Henan Province.
