The first session of the 6th People's Congress of Xinyang Municipality opened on January 4, at which Mayor Chen Zhiwei delivered the work report on behalf of the Xinyang Municipal People's Government. Followings are the highlights of Chen's report.

Over the past five years,

五年来

Xinyang has seen its GDP grow by 5.9 percent,

全市生产总值年均增长5.9%

fixed-asset investment by 9.3 percent,

固定资产投资年均增长9.3%

local general public budget revenue by 9 percent,

地方一般公共预算收入年均增长9%

and total retail sales of consumer goods by 6.8 percent.

社会消费品零售总额年均增长6.8%

Besides, Xinyang's grain output has remained above 11 billion jin (1 jin equals 0.5 kg) for consecutive years,

粮食产量稳定在110亿斤以上

and its per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents has increased by 6.9 percent and 9.3 percent respectively.

城乡居民人均可支配收入年均分别增长6.9%、9.3%

It is worth noting that Xinyang has achieved the first centenary goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects as scheduled.

In 2022,

初步预计，2022年

Xinyang is expected to see its GDP soar by about 3.5 percent,

and fixed-asset investment by about 12.5 percent, of which industrial investment by around 30 percent and industrial added value above a designated size by around 3.4 percent.

固定资产投资增长12.5%左右，其中工业投资增长30%左右，规上工业增加值增长3.4%左右

Besides, Xinyang is expected to see its market entities exceed 54 thousand,

consumer price index up by about 1.7 percent,

居民消费价格增长1.7%左右

75 thousand new urban jobs created,

城镇新增就业7.5万人

110 thousand rural workers employed,

农村劳动力转移就业11万人

and all the provincial and municipal projects for public well-being completed.

In 2023,

2023年主要预期目标

Xinyang's GDP is expected to grow by over 7 percent,

经济增长7%以上

and its urbanization rate of permanent population by over 1.5 percentage points.

常住人口城镇化率提高1.5个百分点以上

Besides, Xinyang is expected to see its intensity of R&D expenditures reach 0.97 percent,

and personal income increase faster than economic growth.

居民收入增速高于经济增长

Furthermore, Xinyang's industrial added value above a designated size is expected to soar by 8 percent,

fixed-asset investment by over 12 percent,

and total retail sales of consumer goods by over 8 percent.

社会消费品零售总额增长8%以上

Meanwhile, Xinyang is expected to see its foreign trade maintain stable growth

进出口总值保持平稳增长

general public budget revenue jump by 6 percent,

一般公共预算收入增长6%

consumer price index rise by 3 percent,

居民消费价格涨幅3%左右

and energy consumption per unit of GDP drop in line with the target of the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025).
