Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks in an instruction on the work of judicial, procuratorial, and public security organs. The instruction, published on Sunday, was conveyed at a two-day national conference that started on Saturday.
He called political and legal work that involves judicial, procuratorial and public security bodies a key part of the work of the Party and the State.
He emphasized the significance of upholding the Party's absolute leadership, boosting the capacity for political judgment, thinking and implementation, and adhering to a people-centered philosophy.
It is important to follow a path of law-based governance with Chinese characteristics, stick to reform and innovation and carry forward the fighting spirit in modernizing the nation's political and legal work, he said.
As the nation is set to celebrate Chinese People's Police Day on Tuesday, Xi extended festive greetings to the nation's police officers on behalf of the CPC Central Committee, expressing hope that they can remain committed to serving as faithful guardians for the Party and people and make more contributions to national security and social stability.
Chen Wenqing, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee, conveyed Xi's instructions at the national conference on political and legal work.
