Large-scale Engineering Facility of Late Erlitou Culture Found in Yanshi

偃师古城村遗址发现二里头文化晚期大型工程设施

Remains of a large-scale engineering facility of the late Erlitou Culture period (3800-3500 BC) were found at the Guchengcun site in Yanshi district of Luoyang city, Henan province, according to a meeting held by Luoyang Municipal Institute of Archaeology on February 11.

2月11日，记者从洛阳市考古研究院2022年度项目汇报会上获悉，洛阳偃师古城村遗址发现二里头文化晚期的一处大型工程设施。

An east-west trench has been discovered at the site, which is about 1,670 meters in length, 10 meters in width and 2.23 meters in depth, and judging from the remains in the trench, archaeologists believe that it was a part of a large-scale engineering facility of the late Erlitou Culture period, said Dong Pengjuan, head of the archaeological project.

据该项目负责人董鹏娟介绍，考古人员在遗址内发现一处东西走向沟槽，长约1670米，宽约10米，深约2.23米，填土为花土，呈坡状堆积，推测应为二里头文化晚期的一处大型工程设施。

So far, about 1,500 square meters have been excavated with the remains of ash pits, wells and trenches of the Erlitou Culture period discovered. Besides, a large number of pottery pieces of deep-belly jars, round-belly jars, wide-mouth wine vessels, urns, pots, square tripods and vessel covers carved with different patterns have also been unearthed.

目前，该处遗址整体发掘面积约1500平方米，其中二里头文化时期遗迹主要有灰坑、水井和沟槽；出土遗物以陶片为主，可辨器型有深腹罐、圆腹罐、大口尊、瓮、刻槽盆、小方鼎、器盖等；纹饰以绳纹为主，还有弦纹、附加堆纹、刻划纹、麻点纹等。
