In the first half of 2023, the gross domestic product expanded 3.8 percent year-on-year to 3.13 trillion yuan; the investment in 1-billion-yuan (and above) projects under construction reported a year-on-year growth of 24.8 percent; 1.074 million new market entities were registered with a year-on-year increase of 38.6 percent; the added value of emerging industries above the designated size jumped 9.7 percent year-on-year; 15 "smart islands" (5G+AI islands) were licensed; and the actual out-of-province funds in place were up 7.4 percent year-on-year.
