The Award Ceremony of the 5th "My China Story" International Short Video Competition Held in Zhengzhou
The award ceremony and relevant activities of the 5th "My China Story" International Short Video Competition were held in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, on October 25. The event was hosted by China International Communications Group (CICG) and the Information Office of Henan Provincial People's Government, and organized by the Information Office of Zhengzhou Municipal People's Government and Xufang International Media under CICG.

Lying in the heart of the Central Plains, Zhengzhou is a birthplace of Chinese civilization. In this competition, more than 50,000 short video works from all over the world were collected. After three rounds of evaluation by over 20 professional judges in the fields of film and television, international communication, and the internet, more than 90 works received awards, including 36 unit awards, seven individual awards, one jury grand prize, and more than 50 excellent awards. Special units in this competition such as "Wonderful Tour in Zhengzhou" and "Walking in Henan, Understanding China" highlighted Zhengzhou's achievements in new energy vehicle technologies, computing, diamond (superhard materials) processing, electric vehicle supercharging, quantum, and historical and cultural heritage. The city is polishing its image as the "The Center of Heaven and Earth," A "Birthplace of Chinese Civilization," and "A Hometown of Kung Fu."
On the award ceremony, Gao Anming, vice president and editor-in-Chief of CICG, highlighted that the strategic collaboration between CICG and Zhengzhou in Henan Province ingeniously melds the brand and platform strengths of "My China Story" International Short Video Competition with the rich cultural legacy of Henan. This fusion not only presents a panorama of Henan, steeped in history and cultural heritage, but also underscores its dynamism and contemporary resonance, alongside casting Zhengzhou in a spotlight as a city brimming with cultural allure and expansive developmental prospects.

Ping Ping, deputy head of the Publicity Departmentof CPC Henan Provincial Committee and director of the Information Office of the Henan Provincial People's Government, pointed out that Henan is tantamount to the ancestral nexus for the global Chinese diaspora and a birthplace of Chinese civilization. The fifth edition of the Competition played a pivotal role in bridging understanding, allowing foreign audience to delve into the depths of China's millennia-old civilization and experience the profound Chinese culture through Henan. Foreign audiences could also appreciate the vitality and bright future of Chinese modernization through the event, allowing the world to understand China by exploring Henan, all from a unique international perspective, Ping said.

Chen Ming, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Zhengzhou Municipal Committee and head of the publicity department said that the special units in "My China Story" International Short Video Competition such as "Wonderful Tour in Zhengzhou" and "Walking in Henan, Understanding China" built an international stage for telling Zhengzhou stories, spreading the voice of Henan, and contributing to China's international communication. This has further enhanced Zhengzhou's identity and reputation. During a special segment of the award ceremony, where international bloggers shared their creative journeys, Takeuchi Ryo, a documentary filmmaker from Japan, shared his story. He reminisced about his first trip to China a decade ago, which took him to Zhengzhou for his inaugural documentary project. He emphasized that the essence of crafting compelling short videos lies in the trinity of passion, perseverance, and authenticity, firmly believing that these elements are crucial for creating content that resonates with and captivates the audience.

"My China Story" is a short video project launched by CICG in 2018. Since its inaugural edition in 2019, the "My China Story" International Short Video Competition has been committed to encouraging domestic and international content creators, foreign live streamers, self-media teams and individuals to create multilingual Chinese themed short videos from different perspectives, sharing their experiences of visiting the country. Videos that tell creators' stories with China or present cultural exchanges between China and other countries from a third-party perspective are also welcome. After five years, "My China Story" has become a well-known international communication brand integrating multilingual short video creation, topic-of-the-year competition, special topic competition, new media international communication seminar, and theme exhibition.
