'Eco-translatology' founded by Prof. Hu Gengshen of Zhengzhou University added to Encyclopedia of China

In the first half of 2023, the online, paper and foreign language versions of Encyclopedia of China (Third Edition) was published, in which "eco-translatology", initiated by Hu Gengshen, a professor at the School of Foreign Languages and International Relations of Zhengzhou University, was included, one of the three Chinese translation theories included this time. Encyclopedia of China (Third Edition) writes: Eco-translatology, initiated in 2001, is not only an interdisciplinary study of ecology and translatology, but also comprehensively views and describes translation activities from the perspective of neo-ecologism.
今年上半年，《中国大百科全书》第三版以网络版、纸质版和外文版形式陆续对外发布，郑州大学外国语与国际关系学院胡庚申教授创立的生态翻译学作为中国三个翻译理论之一被首条收录。《中国大百科全书》第三版中如此记载：2001年发端的生态翻译学既是一项生态学与翻译学的跨学科研究，又是一种从新生态主义理论视角综观和描述翻译的生态翻译研究范式。
In recent years, eco-translatology has been developing rapidly, with its increasing influence at home and abroad. Apart from the existing International Association of Eco-translatology Research, Journal of Eco-translatology and various related international seminars, by the end of December 2022, more than 3,000 papers (including over 1,200 master and doctoral dissertations) guided by eco-translatology have been published nationwide, and 116 related scientific projects at the national, provincial and university levels have been approved. Besides, the number of doctoral students and postdocs studying eco-translatology is also increasing year by year. The original contribution of eco-translatology has been recognized by both domestic and international peers. Eco-translatology, therefore, has been commended as "a model of pragmatic innovation" and "a banner for the development of local academic resources" by the academic circle. Among the 66 innovative disciplines in China's translation field, eco-translatology ranks first in China.
近年来，生态翻译学发展方兴未艾，国内外影响不断扩大。除已拥有国际生态翻译学研究会、国际期刊《生态翻译学学刊》和系列性的国际研讨会等外，截至2022年12月底，全国以生态翻译学为理论指导的各类论文达3000多篇，其中硕士博士学位论文达1200篇以上，冠名“生态翻译学”的国家、省部和高校级科研项目116项，生态翻译学研究方向的国内外博士生和博士后也在逐年增多。生态翻译学的原创性贡献得到国内外同行公认，被学界誉为“务实创新典范”暨“开发本土学术资源的一面旗帜”。中国翻译界66个创新学科排名中，生态翻译学认可度位列全国第一。
The compilation and publication of Encyclopedia of China (Third Edition) was officially launched in 2014. Representing the highest level in the world, Encyclopedia of China (Third Edition) aims to show China's latest achievements in scientific and cultural development, and also cover the achievements of human civilization and its basic knowledge.
