Henan expects over 640 million trips during Spring Festival
春运期间河南出行人次将超6.4亿
The 40-day Spring Festival travel rush will begin on January 26. Henan is expected to see a record high of over 640 million passengers during the period, released at a video and telephone conference held on January 20. The passenger peak is expected to be on February 17.
2024年春运将至，从1月26日至3月5日，为期40天。1月20日，记者从河南省春运工作电视电话会上获悉，今年河南省春运客流将大幅增长，预计出行超6.4亿人次，创历史新高，2月17日（正月初八）将达到流量高峰。
Specifically, Henan is expected to handle 45 million passenger trips during the upcoming rush, of which 21 million by roads with a year-on-year increase of 42.8 percent; 20.64 million by railways, up 12 percent; 3.11 million by air, a 19.4 percent increase. 74 million vehicles are expected to use expressways to get to their respective destinations, up 2.8 percent.
全省旅客发送量预计4500万人次，其中道路2100万人次，同比增长42.8%；铁路2064万人次，同比增长12%；民航311万人次，同比增长19.4%；高速公路出口流量7400万辆，同比增长2.8%。
It is worth noting that people's willingness to travel by car has significantly increased, because of the changes in travel mode choices as well as the impact of factors such as the highway toll-free policy during the Spring Festival holiday. Private cars are expected to account for 90 percent of holiday trips, hitting a record high.
