On the second day, married daughters usually go back to their own family to visit parents, relatives and close friends. Traditionally, in ancient China, married daughters didn't have the opportunity to visit their birth families frequently.
初二,出嫁的女儿会回娘家给父母、亲人和朋友拜年。古时,女儿出嫁后,回娘家探望父母的机会并不多。
They will bring some gifts and red envelopes for the children in their parents' home. And according to the traditional customs, it is required that the daughters and sons-in-law should have lunch in their parents' home.
出嫁的女儿在回娘家时,会给娘家的小孩子们带些礼物或红包。按照中国传统习俗,这一天,女儿和女婿都要在娘家吃午饭。
This custom provides a chance for sisters to get together, and talk about their old happy days and their everyday lives. In some places, families usually take family portraits on this day.
大年初二回娘家的习俗,为姊妹提供了一个叙旧、话家常的机会。有些地方的人们,也会选择在这一天拍张全家福。
Some believe the second day is also the birthday of all dogs and remember them with special treats.
还有一些人认为,初二是所有犬类的生日,因此要给它们好吃的以示庆祝。(杨佳欣)
