Fu Ping, a retired elderly man living in Anyang City, Central China's Henan Province, has been self-learning multiple foreign languages for many years and engaged in volunteer interpretation services and considers it his mission to promote the ancient wisdom of oracle bone inscriptions.

一片甲骨惊天下。在安阳，有位名叫付平的退休老人，多年来，坚持自学多门外语，从事志愿讲解服务，以推广甲骨文为己任。

"Recently, I've been learning to record short videos to popularize knowledge about oracle bone inscriptions, editing them briefly, and posting them on my video account. Additionally, I'm trying to explain oracle bone inscriptions in English," said Fu Ping on March 11.

“最近，我在学着录制一些普及甲骨文知识的短视频，简单剪辑后发到自己的视频号上。此外，我尝试用英文讲解甲骨文。”3月11日，提及自己近期的动态，付平如是说。

Fu Ping, a 68-year-old native of Anyang, started self-study English in his early years due to work requirements and gradually discovered the charm of languages. Later, he acquired certifications of tour guide in working languages of both Chinese and English. In his spare time, he received foreign tourists and introduced to them the ancient capital of Anyang. Upon retiring, Fu devoted himself to learning more foreign languages. More importantly, he has been actively engaged in the volunteer services for promoting oracle bone inscriptions.

付平今年68岁，安阳本地人，早年因工作需要，开始自学外语，逐渐发现语言的魅力。后来，他先后自考了中文导游证和英文导游证，业余时间做导游，接待外籍游客，向大家推介古都安阳。退休后，他一心扑到学习英语、德语等更多外语语种上来，同时更重要的是开展志愿讲解服务，为推广甲骨文作出努力。

"Anyang is the hometown of oracle bone inscriptions with a rich cultural heritage of Chinese characters. Sharing the beauty of Anyang with international friends in various languages is a valuable endeavor!" said Fu.

“安阳是甲骨文的故乡，汉字文化底蕴深厚，若能通过多种语言，把大美安阳的内涵讲给更多外国友人听，让世界了解安阳，这是一件多么有价值的事儿！”付平说。

In order to have a deeper understanding of oracle bone inscriptions, Fu Ping immersed himself in various historical and literary books, consulted experts, and made many notes. "To explain oracle bone inscriptions well to tourists, I must thoroughly comprehend them," said Fu. He always carries a pocket-sized notebook with him and jots down any unfamiliar information about oracle bone inscriptions whenever he encounters. Upon returning home, he would conduct further research to fill in the gaps.

为了深入了解甲骨文，付平曾翻阅大量书籍，查找各种文史资料，请教各路专家，做了不少笔记。“想要给大家讲好甲骨文，那自己一定得先吃透。”付平说，自己平时会随身带一个小本子，若看到不懂的甲骨文的相关知识，会立马记下来，回去后及时“查漏补缺”。

Beyond personal enrichment, Fu Ping directed his efforts towards promoting voluntary foreign language training for young students of primary and middle schools in Anyang, aiming to enable more young sters to tell the stories of oracle bone inscriptions and Anyang well.

除了自身能力的拓展和提升，近年来，付平聚焦安阳市中小学生群体，积极推广语言志愿培训，致力于培养更多能讲外语的小讲解员，让下一代讲好甲骨文故事、讲好安阳故事。

Fu Ping said that the reason why he is determined to carry out bilingual training for young people is his reflection on the rapid development and progress in modern times. "Children are the primary force and hope for the future. The responsibility of bilingual interpretation and oracle bones promotion lies in our children. I will persist in this endeavor."

付平说，之所以下定决心开展青少年的双语讲解志愿培训，是因为深深地感受到时代的迅速发展和进步，而孩子们是未来的主力军和希望。“双语讲解和推广甲骨文的重任应该寄托在孩子们身上，我会一直坚持下去。”付平语气坚定。

Fu Ping harbors a dream of establishing the "Chinese Characters Festival" in Anyang. He envisions the festival centered around oracle bone inscriptions, to which other distinctive features and highlights of Anyang could be added. The idea of "Chinese Characters Festival" should be introduced to schools to organize their own "Campus Festival onChinese Characters" with their unique characteristics and multilingual activities such as language competitions, calligraphy contests, storytelling contests, and more."

“我内心一直有个梦想，想创立咱安阳自己的‘文字节’。”付平给记者介绍，他认为，“文字节”要以甲骨文为着力点，一切策划和活动都要以甲骨文为基础，在此基础上，不断增加其他安阳特色和亮点。同时，“文字节”要坚持走到校园中去，让每个学校都有自己的文字特色，各个学校还可以设立自己的“校园文字文化节”，依托多种语言，创新举办语言大赛、书法大赛、故事大赛等不同活动......

"I will continue to devote myself to volunteer tour guide, bilingual training, and the promotion of oracle bones. Anyang belongs to us all, and I hope everyone can be the 'spokesperson' for oracle bone inscriptions and become good promoters of Anyang culture," said Fu.
