Crops derive their sustenance from soil, vitality from water and growth from fertilizers. Soil, water, and fertilizers serve not only as foundational elements of agricultural production, but also as pivotal strategic resources. On April 16, a conference on soil, water, and fertilizer management convened in Zhengzhou city of Central China's Henan province, deliberating on the work's evolving landscape and the agriculture's green development fueled by cutting-edge technologies to boost crop yields and output.

With the optimization of fertilization methods and adjustment of fertilizer structures, the coverage rate of soil testing and formula fertilization for major crops in Henan has exceeded 90 percent, reflecting a notable enhancement in scientific fertilization.
河南省通过优化施肥方式、调整施肥结构等措施，测土配方施肥技术覆盖率持续稳定在90%以上，科学施肥技术水平显著提升。
Efficiency in water utilization is raised through water-saving irrigation, while productivity per unit is increased through integrated technologies. The campaign of Water Saving & Grain Production Increasing in Henan has yielded a series of replica experiences. So far, Henan has developed over 8 million mu (one mu equals about 0.067 hectares) of farmland with water-fertilizer integration system. On average, more than 30 percent of irrigation water and about 20 percent to 30 percent of fertilizers can be saved per mu, while the yield per mu can be increased by 10 percent to 20 percent, reflecting a remarkable improvement in water and fertilizer utilization.
节水灌溉提效率，集成技术提单产。立足节水增粮行动，集成可复制可推广的轻简化技术模式，河南省发展水肥一体化面积800多万亩，亩均减少灌溉用水30%以上、减少化肥使用量20%—30%，粮食作物实现亩增产10%—20%，水肥利用率明显提高。
Henan has developed a number of demonstration areas in different regions to explore ways that can enhance the fertility of arable land, and carried out a quantity of pilot projects for organic and circular agriculture. So far, 2.63 million mu of land is using manures. In pilot areas, the utilization rate of manures has exceeded 90 percent.
为强力推动耕地质量建设，河南省在不同区域安排地力提升试验示范，探索耕地地力提升集成技术模式。扎实开展绿色种养循环农业试点，全省累计完成粪肥还田面积263万亩，项目区畜禽粪污综合利用率达90%以上。
In Henan, efforts in soil, water, and fertilizer management, such as reducing fertilizer usage, advancing water-saving irrigation and enhancing the fertility of arable land, have secured smooth grain production. Last year, Henan's total grain production reached 66.245 billion kilograms, exceeding 65 billion kilograms for 7 consecutive years. This achievement has solidified Henan's role in ensuring China's food security.
