Liu Wei, a martial arts master from Puyang city in Central China's Henan Province, has been teaching martial arts at the Confucius Institute at the University of Sierra Leone since December 2021. To date, Liu has instructed thousands of students in martial arts.
Many of Liu Wei's students have not only embraced martial arts but have also developed a profound interest in the Chinese language. They see these two cultural elements as pathways to career opportunities.
"Some of the students I teach have gone on to become martial arts instructors themselves, while others have found employments translators for local Chinese enterprises," Liu said, introducing the impact of martial arts and Chinese language education on his students' lives.
