Xinyang Maojian tea shines at the United Nations

May 21 marks the fifth "International Tea Day" designated by the United Nations, on which the United Nations Headquarters hosted an exhibition themed "Tea for Harmony·Chajing Yaji Cultural Salon". A number of UN officials, permanent representatives to the United Nations and representatives from China attended the event, which was hosted by the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China, and undertaken by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Henan Province and the People's Government of Xinyang.

Guests including Dai Bing, Deputy Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations, Li Junhua, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations who is in charge of economic and social affairs, Mohan Pieris, Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nations, and Qu Shangying, Director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Xinyang Municipal Committee, attended the event and delivered speeches.

The event focuses on the Chinese tea culture, creatinga platform for the exchange of both Chinese and international tea cultures. The event also helps enhance influence of the brand of "Henan, Where China Began".

Through the event, the Chinese tea culture and other intangible cultural heritages shined at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, showing the spirit of "harmonious coexistence between human and nature". This event also highlighted the role of Xinyang in fostering friendship between China and the world through the tea culture, showcasing the charm of the Central Plain culture and enabling the world to better understand China.
