Bringing Oracle Bone Scripts Closer to the Public and into People's Hearts

“每周三，五版见！”——这是河南日报社与读者的一个约定，也是河南日报社对文化传承的一份担当。2024年起，读者通过每周三的《河南日报》五版，便可穿越3000多年时光，感悟甲骨文的前世今生。

"Every Wednesday, on page 5!" This promise from Henan Daily to its readers underscores its commitment to cultural heritage. From 2024, readers can travel back 3,000 years through page 5 of Henan Daily every Wednesday, experiencing the history of Oracle Bone Scripts.

5月28日，第六届全国甲骨文整理与研究暨数字甲骨共创计划发布仪式在安阳师范学院举行。以甲骨文报纸特刊为代表的系列作品被制作成一本《河南日报社“了不起的甲骨文”全媒体主题报道》画册和一份电子书，发放给与会嘉宾传阅后，立刻成为会场“焦点”，引发热议。

On May 28, the 6th National Oracle Bone Script Collation and Research & Digital Oracle Bone Co-Creation Program Launching Ceremony was held at Anyang Normal University in Henan Province, China. A collection of works, including the Oracle Bone Scripts special issue, was compiled into a booklet and an e-book. Distributed to attendees, these materials quickly became the focus of the event.

2023年下半年以来，河南日报社重磅推出“了不起的甲骨文”主题报道，综合运用图文、海报、短视频、直播、互动游戏、线下活动等形式，通过内容丰富的创意策划、张弛有度的叙事节奏、内外联动的融合传播，推动甲骨文这一文化IP贴近大众、深入人心、走向世界，展示中国文字的一脉相承、中华文明的深厚积淀、中华民族的生生不息。

Since the second half of 2023, Henan Daily has launched the "Amazing Oracle Bone Scripts" themed report, utilizing images, posters, short videos, livestreams, interactive games, and offline activities. This multifaceted approach, featuring engaging narratives and integrated communication, aims to bring Oracle Bone Scripts closer to the public and promote them globally.

“之前就在网上关注到了河南日报社‘了不起的甲骨文’主题报道，能坚持做成一个持续性的策划不容易。报道关注甲骨文方方面面的进展，特别有价值。”首都师范大学甲骨文研究中心教授莫伯峰说，“通过报纸和新媒体的推广，能够让甲骨文真正走进千家万户，让大家感觉到我们与文字这一文化根脉的关联，我觉得这项工作非常有意义。”他还建议开发制作更多互动产品，让读者更好地参与其中。

"I had been following the 'Amazing Oracle Bone Scripts' themed series online, and it's commendable that it has been maintained as a sustained effort. The series covers all aspects of Oracle Bone Script progress, which is particularly valuable," said Mo Bofeng, a professor at the Oracle Bone Script Research Center of Capital Normal University. "Through promotion by newspapers and new media, Oracle Bone Scripts enter every household, fostering a connection with our cultural roots. This work is exceedingly meaningful." He also suggested developing more interactive products to engage readers further.

“河南日报社‘了不起的甲骨文’报道，每一期我们社长都会转发到工作群里，同事们一起学习交流。这组报道给我们带来了很多思考和启发。”中州古籍出版社编辑王士松说。山东博物馆书画部主任于芹通过现场的画册了解到这组报道，她说：“我发现选题都非常新颖，看到标题就产生了浓厚的兴趣，也想珍藏一套河南日报‘了不起的甲骨文’特刊了！”她表示，博物馆最主要的文化产品是展览，但展览能呈现的信息十分有限，还需要进一步加强与媒体合作，共同讲好新时代文物故事。

"Every issue of the 'Amazing Oracle Bone Scripts' series by Henan Daily is shared in our work group by our leader, raising discussions and bringing insights among colleagues," said Editor Wang Shisong from Zhongzhou Classics Publishing House. "The special issues are so innovative and compelling that at the sight of the titles it raised my strong interest and I also wish to collect a set!" added Yu Qin, head of the Department of Painting and Calligraphy at Shandong Museum. She emphasized the need for museums to strengthen cooperation with media to tell the cultural stories of the new era.

腾讯元梦之星运营负责人孙宇凡表示，“了不起的甲骨文”主题报道充满活力，其中包括甲骨文识读小程序、甲骨文广播体操等许多有趣的内容。而年轻用户认为甲骨文是神秘且充满魅力的，因此在互联网传播语境下，甲骨文具备“出圈”潜力。

Sun Yufan, Meta Dream Star Operations Manager at Tencent, remarked that the themed report is vibrant and includes engaging content like an Oracle Bone Scripts recognition app and physical exercise program. Young users find Oracle Bone Scripts mysterious and charming, suggesting these ancient characters have the potential to go viral in the internet era.
